Ever since Hoopla Worldwide signed the dotted line on a full-scale distribution deal with WIDEawake Death Row Entertainment, they have been diligently moving at rapid speed signing promising artists who will soon release material into the global marketplace utilizing all physical and digital formats. All material will be released to retail through E1 Music (formally Koch), turning much attention towards this budding record company.
According to Jonathan Hay, co-founder of Hoopla, “You can expect all the following releases from Hoopla Worldwide in the next 365 days,” He continued, “We have MC Breed, Audio Stepchild, Tha Chill of Compton’s Most Wanted, Big ALTA, Big Mike from The Geto Boys, Staxx N Waxx, solo members of Nappy Roots, Sabrina, Illuminati Sky, MC Eiht, Mike Mosley, KingCo, Nasim, Smoove Gotti, Tan-D, Cognito (formally of Tech N9ne’s Strange Music) and many more.” Co-founder Chad Kiser added, “We are finalizing deals as we speak and hope to have projects coming out real soon from Ant Banks, Sir Jinx and Brother J from X-Clan.”
A&R President Michael Bentley, with the help of DJ Fade, introduced the most recent signings to the company such as KingCo out of El Paso, Texas and Smoove Gotti from Cleveland, Ohio. He contacted KingCo after hearing his record “iSpazz” which he said had a “powerful ‘Biggie-type’ of voice, with great wordplay and rhythmic structure.” Bentley first heard about Smoove Gotti from his record “Make the City Clap” that he thought would bring “another hardcore rap dimension to the Hoopla family.
Top hip-hop industry media outlet HipHopDX recently reported the following about Hoopla Worldwide: “Originating in Louisville, Kentucky but with team members strategically based all across the United States and Canada, Hoopla began its relationship with WIDEawake Entertainment publicizing and marketing their releases from the vast Death Row vault. Impressed with Hoopla’s work, WIDEawake offered a full-blown distribution deal.”
WIDEawake Entertainment gained national spotlight after its storied purchase of Death Row Records for $18 Million. With more information still to be released, Hoopla Worldwide can report that it has partnered up with John Houston Entertainment—Whitney Houston’s late father’s company—headed up by industry heavyweight Kevin Skinner.
